what to expect during worship

Here are some of the things you will likely see on a Sunday morning:

  • An usher/greeter welcome you and hand you a bulletin when you walk into the sanctuary.

  • We usually follow a traditional Presbyterian worship service.  By “traditional,” we mean that we sing hymns and follow a liturgical Presbyterian worship format.

  • Most people at our church do not dress up for worship on Sundays. You will see people in jeans and t-shirts and you will see people dressed in their “Sunday best.”

  • Children of all ages are welcome. We encourage children to stay in worship with adults. We have crayons and paper for kids to use during worship service.  Making noise and wiggling is part of the growing up process, and we encourage you to stay in worship with us.  If you feel you need to step out for a moment, we have a nursery available.  All ages are invited to join us in worship.

  • We have a time in the worship we call, “Passing of the Peace.” This is a time for people to greet each other in worship with a sign of peace. Feel free to participate at whatever level you are most comfortable with, including not participating at all.

  • We have a time during worship where people share their “joys and concerns.”  People will lift up prayer requests that range from personal struggles to the joys of celebration. If you feel led to share something, please don’t hold back!  After our sharing, the Pastor will lead the congregation in prayer, including the “Lord’s Prayer.” We have the words to the “Lord’s Prayer” on the screen. We use “debts” and “debtors” in the Lord’s Prayer.

  • On Sundays when we have Communion, know that you are welcome to participate. Christ welcomed sinner and saint at His Table and we do the same. EVERYONE is welcome at Christ's Table.
