First Presbyterian Church takes stewardship of God's creation seriously. We believe that we are called to care for God's creation. Our Session recently adopted the "Earth Care Pledge," which calls for our church to be stewards of God's creation in all aspects of our lives. If you wish to explore more about the Environmental Ministries of the PCUSA, click on the Environmental Ministries image below. We care for God's creation by: recycling (including electronic recycling), outdoor worship services, maintaining a butterfly gardern, supporting the Thomas County Farmers Market (click on the image below to learn about dates and times), and using "reusable" plates and cups during our fellowship times. These are just some of the many things we do to care for God's creation
We also care for God's creation by ordering Equal Exchange and other fair trade items for the church and members of the community. By supporting farmers and retailers through Equal Exchange and fair trade, we are supporting positive farming practices, as well as farmers who would otherwise be pushed out of the larger market by large corporations.
