We collect the four special offerings that the PCUSA supports: One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost Offering, Global Witness and Peace Offering and Christmas Joy Offering. These offerings are used around the world to support the ministries of Christ's Church. In addition to those four special offerings, we also take up the Souper Bowl of Caring offering on the first Sunday in February.
We support the mission and ministry of the Presbytery of Northern Kansas. Every year we tithe 10% of our operating budget to the Presbytery to support their mission in Kansas and around the world
We do the Operation Christmas Child shoebox drive every Christmas. We collect toys and school supplies and ship the to kids all over the world. If you are interested in supporting this program, please contact the church office some time in November.
We prayerfully and financially support the work and mission of Tracey King-Ortega, a PCUSA Mission Co-worker based in Nicaragua, and serves as regional liaison in Central America.
We support the World Friendship group. World Friendship is a group of adults whose first language is not English. It is an interfaith organization established for immigrants and American adults of Thomas County. First Presbyterian Church of Colby has agreed to partner with this group. The goals for World Friendship are to facilitate the making of new friends, to improve communication in English, to develop creative skills, and to share our different cultures, all in informal, enjoyable, hands-on activities.
We also collect money to support the Presbyterian Giving Catalog. The Presbyterian Giving Catalogue is similar to Heifer International. You can purchase items like goats, rain catchment systems, and farm equipment. For more information, please click on the Presbyterian Giving Catalog image found in the "multimedia" section of our website
